Focused Education Opportunities at the WFVZ
A primary aspect of the WFVZ’s mission is to provide Science Education to students, educators, and members of the public in Ventura County. We offer high quality museum science tours and labs for students from 3rd grade through college, taught by practicing scientists and biologists working at the WFVZ.
Research has demonstrated that extracurricular science school programs (often called “informal science education”) can make significant contributions to science proficiency, literacy, and choice of scientific careers for students in the primary grades in particular. So, in addition to our guided tours for members of the public, the WFVZ offers targeted informal science education opportunities in labs to public, private, and homeschooled students, targeting Next Generation Science Standards in all labs.
For older students (18 years old+) the WFVZ also offers internships and the possibility of involvement in local science projects. Please contact us for additional information!
